Staff Software Engineer, Platform

We’re looking for an experienced software engineer to help build Lob’s platform for our next stage of growth. We’re looking for someone who’s been involved with setting technical direction for the engineering org which may include rolling out a new incident management platform, logging system, or container orchestration system. This role will require collaboration across teams to keep direction organized. You will be a source of coaching and mentoring for our team members and will help us to hire and retain a team of engaged and thriving engineers.

As the Staff Software Engineer on the Platform team, you’ll…

Collaborate with and mentor other engineers in the org on best practices
Own the adoption of new solutions and processes from start to finish and iterate on those solutions/processes.
Continue to build a healthy, collaborative culture where everyone learns, continuously adapts, and improves together. You’ll bring your experience and lessons from past jobs - and get a chance to help define how our team operates.

What will you bring to this role…

You have at least 6+ years of overall experience as a software engineer with platform experience around cloud services and observability
Experience building large scale systems as well as processes for an organization to ensure proper DevOps
Experience with at least one public cloud vendor (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Experience with one or more of the following languages (Javascript, GoLang, Elixir, Python)
Experience with integrating one or more of the following technologies into architectures and best practices with them (Nomad, Terraform, Consul, Datadog, SNS/SQS, Redis, Postgres, Aurora, Lambdas)
