Amazing Backend Engineers - Join Us - Open Letter from CTO at Shopa
London, United Kingdom
🇬🇧 (Posted Jul 10 2014)
About the company
shopa are a social marketplace quickly becoming the world’s largest shopping destination. We focus on the consumer, rewarding them for recommending products and brands to their friends. Our patented technology has secured us series A funding and we’re on a quest to change the world of internet shopping, forever.
We have a team of passionate developers with TDD at their core and, using pair programming and reporting directly into me, we’re creating something amazing.
What we believe…
…but all the above is just fluff really; the most important thing to me is self-organizing teams. I expect you to take charge of your own destiny. I see my job as enabling you to do what you love.
You care about software; how it’s made, how to maintain it and how to keep it alive. This is more than just a job.
We’re using Ruby on Rails, Go, ElasticSearch, AWS, Heroku, GitHub… But, to be honest, what we’re currently using isn’t the most important thing. The technology we use changes and I hope it always does.
How we build…
Feature driven feedback is key! We make small changes with constant pushes to production. Code is in GitHub and we currently build and develop automatically by continuous integration. We communicate using Slack (you’ll have access to everyone in the company) and our online project manager application is Trello. Most importantly, do you have any better tools you would like to use? Well, let’s introduce it.
If you’re ready to escape the grey bureaucratic world you’re currently drying up in, then our doors are open…
Skills & requirements
We're open to amazing developers with a wide range of technologies and skills; what's most important to us is that you're passionate about code and ready to speak up and implement new ways of doing things.
