Job description
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Providing hands on leadership to a distributed team of four or five mostly senior developers working on building our suite of ActiveState languages across a wide variety of platforms
Technical leadership to help solve critical software design and development challenges
Working through all aspects of the software development lifecycle
Working on our custom Perl-based build system and increasing our use of standard tools
Owning development projects from start to finish
Working in a collaborative environment with QA, Tech Writing, Product Management, and Special Projects to solve hard Enterprise software problems with leading-edge language distros

Skills & requirements
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 2 years team leadership experience, preferably in a distributed environment
Minimum 7 years' software development experience
Perl development skills are highly desirable--we build all kinds of languages… using Perl!
One or more of Python, Ruby, Node.js or other dynamic language skills. We are polyglot.
Comfortable with git
Experience programming in C/C++ at the system level. Interpreters are C programs.
Excellent debugging skills
Excellent written and spoken communications skills
Experience (or interest) in managing and improving a complex Perl-based build system
ASSETS
Ability to help flesh out precise requirements from customer input
Experience building and debugging software on multiple platforms
Enterprise software experience
“Big Iron” (AIX, HP-UX, Solaris) experience
