Job description
VMware CTO office is looking for several (10 engineers) who will be working on Golang, Java, Microservices in making VMware the best platform to run Next Gen Apps or Cloud Native Apps. You will work on products that makes Developers First Class Users of Datacenter. You will work with brilliant engineers that are working on highly scalable distributed cloud native applications and Containerized applications. You will also get exposure to VM's, Containers.

Virtualization and cloud fundamentally change how infrastructure and operations are driven and measured by customers. Virtualizing enterprise applications have brought tremendous cost and agility benefits to the enterprises. As the cloud is evolving, so are the applications running in the cloud. A class of cloud native applications (a.k.a 3rd platform applications) is beginning to emerge - these applications are often built on mobile devices, cloud services, social technologies, and big data.

You will work on products to enable the customers to build and operate cloud-native apps on the vSphere platform. You will work both on advanced product features and help contribute to our open source code base.

Skills & requirements
Requirements:

* 2-5 years of experience working on Open source software.

* Experience submitting a patch upstream.

* Experience on developing large scale 3rd platform applications or Cloud Native application is a plus

* Solid technical understanding of distributed, scale out applications

* Ability to influence people at all levels across a broad variety of job functions especially in an Open source community.

* BS in Computer Science or related technical field with MS. a plus

* Good English communication skills, both written and verbal, to communicate on audio and video calls with other team members

Languages Expertise w/ OSS Focus:

* Golang and/Or Java, Ruby, Python (proficient with at least two of them, proficiency with Golang is a big plus).

* HTTP and REST knowledge a must.

* Confidence with/knowledge of Docker, Hashicorp tools (Vagrant, Packer, Terraform, Consul), Mesos, Kubernetes, having non-trivial contributions accepted definitely a plus.
