About the role

To help us scale and enhance our global payment systems, we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join MATCHi’s Payments team. In this role, you’ll work with a complex global payment system and play a key role in shaping and setting the overall payment strategy.

As a Senior Backend Payment Engineer, you’ll help build scalable and reliable systems that ensure seamless payment experiences for users worldwide. You’ll be part of a small, cross-functional, and empowered team working closely together—to shape and deliver impactful solutions.

You’ll also contribute actively to team discussions, share progress, and collaborate to deliver meaningful outcomes that align with our mission.

About you

You are an experienced Backend Engineer with a strong foundation in building and maintaining scalable systems. You thrive in an agile work environment, where curiosity and collaboration drive meaningful outcomes.

In this role, we’re looking for someone who brings:

A strong product sense and a user-centric mindset, ensuring solutions that create real value for users worldwide
A self-directed work ethic with the ability to operate autonomously, while actively contributing to team discussions and progress
Experience working with complex global payment systems and a track record of collaborating on strategic decisions related to payment architecture
Hands-on experience with payment systems, PSPs, and international payments (bonus points for experience with ledger bookkeeping, gift cards, bank transfers, KYC, or bank integrations)
Proficiency in backend development with extensive experience in Java, GoLang, Groovy, or similar languages
Familiarity with monolith architectures and experience migrating to microservices or serverless architectures
Comfort with AWS, infrastructure as code, and relational databases, including ORM and MVC frameworks
A strong contributor to a team that values ownership, open collaboration, and works towards delivering seamless payment solutions to our users.
