Senior software engineer - Go (Golang), Node, etc. at Lon
New York, New York, United States (Posted Sep 17 2014)
About the company
The consumer finance market is massive and affects the lives of tens of millions of people across the United States every day, but it has not changed in over fifty years. It was built for a pre-internet (and even a pre-computer) world, and it leaves consumers without good choices. That’s about to change.
Lon is a funded, stealth-mode financial technology company that aims to revolutionize the world of consumer finance in a way that improves consumers’ lives and puts money back in their pockets.
We are changing how you borrow money and finance purchases, building a marketplace that brings new efficiency, transparency, and rigor to a world that has seen little innovation.
And we’re the right people to do it: Our founding team is well known in the financial technology world, and brings top-notch expertise in technology, law, venture capital, and financial services.
- Remote work is NOT possible
We are looking for New York's most talented technologists to build a one-of-a-kind financial system that will revolutionize consumer finance. We are a technology company first, not a financial services company where technology is an afterthought. The CTO has many years of experience designing best-in-class software in financial services. No hierarchy, strict agile, continuous delivery.
The job is to be a full-stack, full contributing member of the core team, banging out features and getting the product to market. It's an early-stage startup, so the job could involve everything from distributed systems architecture to dev ops to taking your turn to take out the garbage (and not the heap memory kind). We have early iterations of the product up and running, but it's pretty close to green field.
Equity grants at this seed stage are significant.
Skills & requirements
Here's a sample of technologies and tools we're using, by no means comprehensive:
MEAN stack (MongoDB, ExpressJS, AngularJS, NodeJS) for the application layer;
Go / Scala / Akka / RabbitMQ / PostgreSQL for the back end;
AWS EC2 / Ansible / Wercker / GitHub / Pivotal / HipChat for orchestration and dev ops.
You should be good at least at some of these, and have a track record of quickly turning around well-designed, well tested, end-to-end working features, touching every part of the stack, in an agile environment.
