CottageClass is a community marketplace for childhood education. We empower independent teachers to start new schools, classes, preschool programs and camps to fill unmet educational needs in their communities. In little over a year, we've generated 1.2MM in sales and served over 400 children in NYC. We've received inquiries from 1500 teachers in 77 cities around the world who want to start their own schools.

Job position
Permanent / Freelance - Remote work possible

Job description
CottageClass is seeking an amazing 3rd partner for our startup as we seek to reinvent education by empowering teachers to start their own preK-12th grade microschools. Please note the position will be paid only in equity for the first 3-6 months. The lead engineer will continue to architect, develop, monitor and maintain our technology. We are seeking a partner who is excited to play an active role in scaling our business as we expand to new cities.

Skills & requirements
Who are you?

A strong full-stack developer with a passion to work in fast-paced environment and make a significant impact on childhood education. You can design and implement persistence layers, backends, middleware, and frontend clients. You are willing to learn new skills as necessary and thrive on challenges. You work well in teams and have the capacity to lead and inspire other developers. 

You'll need to have:

2+ years professional full-stack development experience

An intermediate knowledge of Javascript 

An intermediate knowledge of Go

Strong software design skills

Understanding of working in NoSql databases like MongoDB

Understanding of Docker and Kuberentes

Understanding of UX and good user design

A zest and abundant curiosity for talking to users and iterating based on their feedback.

Understanding of how to build out Stripe Marketplace for customized payments and ensure PCI compliance.

A passion for education

Strong desire to work with a social impact company

We'd love to see:

4+ years professional full-stack development experience

An expert knowledge of Javascript 

An expert knowledge of Go

Experience leading and managing software teams

Data analytics skills (We wish to provide recommendations to teachers on what to offer based on geodemocraphics)

An experienced and creative growth hacker
