Job description
Optiver’s technical environment is incredibly varied. Alongside our core trading and connectivity applications, we are working on a number of very interesting projects that seek to solve specific problems, or better enable our traders and engineers to produce great results.
A common language of choice across these initiatives is Go. Our engineers love to work with this language thanks to its fast and friendly nature. It helps us to build tools and applications to solve certain problems very quickly, which can be very important in our ever-changing industry.
We have recently initiated a Greenfield project, to build a new system/set of services that will make use of a host of modern technologies and techniques and will shape Optiver’s future trading.
We have a number of positions available on this newly formed team, ranging in seniority, and function. We would love to find some developers who are able to contribute expertise on a mix of Web service, Golang API and general back-end development. We also have ambitious plans regarding the UI for this system, so anyone with a love of design and build of rich interfaces using WPF or web languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc. would thrive on this project.

Skills & requirements
If you enjoy surfing on the wave of cutting edge software, there is a role for you in this team.

What you will be involved in:

• You will work closely with business and engineering teams to understand short and long-term requirements.
• You will help design this brand new system that will have significant impact on the business.
• You will develop web services & service API’s and/or UIs, solving real problems every time
Skills that will make you awesome in this role:

• It is important that you have worked with (and loved) either Go or C# extensively on multithreaded/concurrent systems in the past in order to have the impact that we need on this project.
• A passion for learning new technologies, and an ability to bring fresh ideas to the team is just as important.
• It would be awesome if you also have experience with some of the other tech that we love to use, such as Python/IronPython, Docker, Protobuf, TCP, HTTP, WPF, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, etc.
In exchange for you joining our team, we offer you one of the best working environments in Australia. We have a friendly, open, relaxed culture with a fantastic selection of perks to be enjoyed in and out of our modern workplace.
We believe in an environment that promotes happiness, communication, collaboration and innovation. We encourage our people to share ideas and thoughts so that we can be the best that we possibly can.
